Quote Response

"Good literature substitutes for experience which we have not ourselves lived through." -Alexander Solzhenitsyn

I think that this quote means that through books and other works of literature, you can experience things that you haven't experienced in real life. Literature can also help you experience things that can't happen in reality. An example of this is flying on a dragon.

The book I am currently reading is Anne of Green Gables by L. M. Montgomery. My book is about an orphan girl who goes to stay with Marilla and Matthew Cuthbert. This quote relates to my book because I have never been an orphan, but through my book I can kind of tell it would feel like to be one. Also, I can picture the setting of my book in my mind, even though I've never seen it.
